Do you make one of those 10 mistakes?
In this picture you see 10 Etiquette mistakes,
can you find them?
Even one of them will tarnish your social standing!
Be attentive.
To look the other way as you are in a conversation with someone is plainly rude. Be attentive and show respect.
Limp hand shake.
A limp handshake indicates weakness and self-doubt. Give a firm hand shake and show confidence, openness and reliability. However, be careful not to squeeze the other persons hand, as this indicates a dominating personality and insensibility towards others.
Smoking
In many localities smoking is meanwhile prohibited. Never disregard this rule! Even if smoking is permitted, avoid smoking Cigars or a pipe and never ash onto the floor!!
Social gatherings are an important part of human life, regardless if you meet new or old friends or have to lead negotiations in business.
In this picture you will find ten mistakes. If you avoid them, you will be recognized as a person of class.
Hold the glass the wrong way
It shows style to hold a Glass with stem, at the stem. If the glass has no stem, hold it in your left hand and avoid therefore to greet someone with a cold, moist right hand.
Don't remove your jacket or wear the jacket open
Never take off your jacket, even if the host has done so. If standing, always close your jacket.
Invasion of other people's personal space
Every individual has its own personal space surrounding them (about 50 cm). It is not appreciated to invade somebody's personal space without being invited. People like to avoid and hold in contempt others who disregard this rule.
Speaking in a high volume voice
Don't talk too loudly, it indicates a trait of being self-centered and a show-off personality. Speak subtle in a pleasant, even voice. Choose your volume according to the relevant situation.
Place the hand on the other person's shoulder
As long your conversational partner is not your good, old friend, the hand shake should be your only physical contact. Never touch others without consent. You might think of it is a friendly gesture, others might interpret it as being sleazy.
Speak at the same time
Never interrupt your partner while speaking. Let him/her finish the sentence before you reply. The secret of good communication is listening!
Too much alcohol
Control your alcohol intake. You might think that you are having fun but others might see this differently. You might say or do things which you later regret and which can harm your reputation.
